1 cup dark brown sugar, packed tightly

1/2 cup cold water
•
1/3 cup shortening
•
1 egg
•
1 tsp. salt
•
1 tsp. allspice, ground
•
1 tsp. ginger, ground
•
1 tsp. cloves, ground
•
1 tsp. cinnamon, ground
•
2 tsp. baking soda (dissolved in 3 tbls. cold water)
•
Powdered sugar for dusting
