For the Filling:
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 egg yolks
3 cups milk
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
For the Topping:
1 cup heavy cream
2 tablespoons Confectioners' sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
