1 1/2 cups sugar
•
1 egg
•
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
•
1 cup buttermilk
•
For the icing:
•
2 egg whites
•
2 1/2 to 3 cups confectioners' sugar
•
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
•
2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
•
Black or dark brown food coloring
