For this recipe you MUST use old fashioned, stone or water ground white corn meal. Hush Puppies, it's said, were originally tag ends of cornbread dough, deep fried and tossed to dogs at mealtime to “hush them up” Serve hush puppies with seafood, especially breaded or batter fried fish.

When fat reaches 375 F.,scoop up rounded 1/2 tablespoons of dough, shape lightly on end of spoon to smooth our rough edges, drop into fat and fry about 2 minutes or until evenly browned.Drain quickly on paper toweling and serve hush puppies sizzling hot.
