1 stick unsalted butter

2 c. all-purpose flour

2 1/4 c. root beer, divided (total, this recipe uses just shy of two 12 oz. bottles or cans of root beer)

1 c. cocoa powder
•
2 oz. bittersweet or semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
•
1 c. granulated sugar
•
1/2 c. dark brown sugar
•
1 1/4 tsp. baking soda
•
1/4 tsp. ground allspice
•
1 tsp. salt 3 eggs, beaten
•
Glaze:
•
2 1/2 c. confectioner's sugar
•
1/4 c. root beer
•
1 tsp. vanilla extract
•
pinch of salt
•
1 to 2 T. warm water, if needed
