How To Make chocolate marble pound cake

  • Step 1
Bring butter and eggs to room temperature. Grease and lightly flour a 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan. In a medium bowl stir together flour, baking powder, and, if desired, nutmeg. Set eggs, pan, and flour mixture aside. In a large bowl beat butter with an electric mixer on medium to high speed about 30 seconds or until softened. Gradually add sugar, 2 tablespoons at a time, beating on medium to high speed about 6 minutes total, or until very light and fluffy. Add vanilla. Then add eggs, one at a time, beating on low to medium speed for 1 minute after each addition; scraping sides of bowl often. Gradually add the flour mixture, beating on low speed just until combined. Transfer about half of the batter to a small bowl. Stir in 1/4 cup chocolate flavored syrup until combined. Spoon about half of the plain batter into the prepared pan. Top with the chocolate batter. Then top with the remaining plain batter. Using a knife, gently swirl the batter to get a marbled effect. Bake in a 325F oven for 55 to 65 minutes or until cake test done. Cool cake in pan on a rack for 10 minutes. Then remove cake from pan and cool completely on rack. Drizzle Powdered Sugar Icing over cake. Powdered Sugar Icing: Recipe located in this program
