INGREDIENTS
Butter, for greasing the pans
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for pans
1 3/4 cups sugar
3/4 cups cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 cup buttermilk, shaken and at room temperature
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 extra-large eggs, at room temperature
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 cup freshly brewed hot coffee (or 2/3 cup coffee mixed with 1/3 cup of water)
2 sticks (1 cup) unsalted butter, softened
1 cup smooth peanut butter (don't use natural - I used JIF)
1 1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1-2 tablespoons heavy cream or milk
Frosting
1 8 oz cream cheese
1C peanut butter
1 1/2C powdered sugar
1/4 t salt
1/2 t vanilla
1-2 T cream or milk
