Ingredients: 1 cup granulated sugar; 3/4 cup shortening (or butter); 2 Tbsp milk; 1 tsp vanilla; 2 eggs; 2 1/4 cup all-purpose flour; 1 tsp baking powder; 1/2 tsp baking soda; 1/2 tsp salt; 1 cup pecans (chopped); 1 cup dates (chopped); 1/3 cup maraschino cherries (chopped, patted dry with paper towels, plus extra to top (10 ounce jar total)); 2 cups corn flakes (coarsley crushed)
