fresh apple cake

This is an old recipe and I remember my Grandma Lillie making this in the fall when there were a lot of apples. This cake is dense and it takes a long time to bake. I have altered this cake by adding less sugar and flour. Of course, you can make it sugar free, also. I think it would be better in a bundt pan because it would cook much more evenly.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 teaspoons soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg, ground
  • pinch salt
  • 1 1/4 cups flour
  • 3 cups apples,peeled, cored, and diced

How To Make fresh apple cake

  • Step 1
    Cream butter and sugar together. Add eggs, milk and vanilla, mix. Add soda, cinnamon, nutmeg and flour, mix. Add apples. Bake at 350 for 40 minutes in a 9x9 pan or a bundt pan.
  • Step 2
    Serving ideas: sprinkle powdered sugar on top the cake, pour caramel sauce on top, which I did in the picture.
