"This recipe for Czech butter cookies or maslove pecivo (mahss-LAW-vay peh-CHEE-vaw) is often served at Christmas time when they become part of vanocni cukrovi (vah-NAWTCH-nee koo-KRAW-vee) or Christmas sweets, the baking for which usually begins on St. Nicholas Day, Dec. 6.
