2 1/2 cups flour (sifted)
1/2 Tb baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 cup unsalted butter (1 1/2 sticks, room temperature)
1 1/4 cups sugar
4 eggs (at room temperature)
1 cup buttermilk (at room temperature)
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp almond extract (optional)
1 cup whole milk
3 egg yolks
1/3 cup sugar
2 Tb cornstarch
1 Tb unsalted butter
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp almond extract
1/3 cup heavy whipping cream
1 tablespoon confectioners' sugar
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup honey
3 Tb water
1 cup sliced almonds (toasted (save a few sliced almonds for garnish))
2 Tb unsalted butter
1/4 tsp baking soda
6 egg whites
1/2 tsp cream of tartar
1 cup of sugar + 1/4 cup sugar (separated)
1/4 cup of water
1 1/2 cups (3 sticks butter (unsalted and at room temperature)
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp almond extract
