Ingredients
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/4 cups buttermilk
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 ripe bananas, sliced
- vegetable oil
- warmed maple syrup
How To Make banana buttermilk waffles

Step 1Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, soda, cinnamon and salt in a large bowl - mix well.

Step 2Combine the buttermilk, egg and melted butter in a bowl and whisk until well blended.

Step 3In another bowl, place 1/2 of the sliced bananas and mash them coarsely - mixture will be lumpy. Add the bananas to the buttermilk mixture; then stir into flour mixture. Whisk until the batter is smooth.

Step 4Preheat a waffle iron and brush lightly with the oil. Ladle enough batter for 1 waffle and cook until done. Repeat with remaining batter. Transfer to a platter and into the oven at a low temp to keep warm.

Step 5Serve waffles garnished with remaining banana slices and drizzle with warm maple syrup.
