My family loves these healthier pancakes, especially when served with Spiced Apple Syrup. The oats give them a slightly chewy texture.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup old fashioned oats
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup wheat germ
  • 1/4 cup nonfat powdered milk
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted and cooled

How To Make hearty oatmeal pancakes

  • Step 1
    In a large bowl, whisk together oats, flour, wheat germ, powdered milk, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and brown sugar.
  • Step 2
    In a medium bowl, stir together, eggs, buttermilk, and melted butter.
  • Step 3
    Stir wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until well blended.
  • Step 4
    Lightly grease a griddle and heat until hot. Pour 1/2 cup of the batter onto the hot griddle (batter will be thick). Cook pancakes until the edges are dry and bubbles appear on the surface. Turn and cook other side.
