Having been in the US Navy for almost 10 years, I missed this breakfast, and searched it out many years ago. Not sure where i found it but still enjoy this from time to time. Relive your old Navy days with this great meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 2 medium onions, chopped
  • 5 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cans 8 oz cans diced tomatoes with juice, i used the flavored ones
  • 1 can 5.5 oz can tomato juice, v8 works well here
  • 2 cups hot water
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • - salt and pepper to taste

How To Make us navy minced beef on toast

  • Step 1
    In a large skillet, over medium heat, brown the ground beef and onions. DO NOT DRAIN. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Step 2
    Stir in flour 1 tablespoon at a time, until beef juices have been absorbed.
  • Step 3
    Stir in tomatoes, tomato juice and water. Simmer on low heat to thicken.
  • Step 4
    Stir in nutmeg and sugar, simmer until all the flavors are blended well.
