US Navy Minced Beef on Toast

1 1/2 lblean ground beef
2 mediumonions, chopped
5 Tbspall-purpose flour
2 can(s)8 oz cans diced tomatoes with juice, i used the flavored ones
1 can(s)5.5 oz can tomato juice, v8 works well here
2 chot water
1/2 tspground nutmeg
1/2 tspgranulated sugar
·salt and pepper to taste
How to Make US Navy Minced Beef on Toast
- In a large skillet, over medium heat, brown the ground beef and onions. DO NOT DRAIN. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Stir in flour 1 tablespoon at a time, until beef juices have been absorbed.
- Stir in tomatoes, tomato juice and water. Simmer on low heat to thicken.
- Stir in nutmeg and sugar, simmer until all the flavors are blended well.
