This is a very yummy and flexible recipe!

Ingredients

  • 4 slices whole grain bread
  • 2 tablespoons softened neufchâtel cheese
  • 2 tablespoons jelly, your favorite flavor
  • 1 - egg (or egg whites)
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup milk (whole or skim)

How To Make stuffed french toast

  • Step 1
    Place 4 Slices of bread on cutting board Pre-Heat Frying pan to medium heat (use cooking spray if not using a non-stick)
  • Step 2
    Spread 1 Tbsp of cheese each on 2 of slices Spread 1 Tbsp of jelly each on the 2 remaining slices
  • Step 3
    Place one bread with jelly and one with cheese together to make a sandwich Repeat with the remaining two slices Take each 'sandwich' and cut diagonally to make 4 slices
  • Step 4
    In pie plate, whisk egg, milk, nutmeg and cinnamon together
  • Step 5
    Place each slice in egg mix on each side for 10 seconds after each side coated, place directly in pan
  • Step 6
    Cook until golden brown on each side
  • Step 7
    Serve with your topping(s) Goes with: Fresh Fruit, Syrup, Whipped Cream or Powdered Sugar
