Found this recipe in one of my mothers recipe boxes, made it for my chef at school and he told me after 2 pieces that I could make money on this one, my family and friends all agree,never did try and make money from it, try it and see why they liked it and let me know

Ingredients

  • FOR THE STREUSEL
  • 3/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 stick unsalted butter, melted
  • FOR THE CAKE
  • 1/2 cup sour cream room temp
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 2 dashes pure almond extract, just 2 drops
  • 1/2 cup very soft unsalted butter, more for the pan
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 - large egg yolk, room temp
  • 1 - large egg, room temp
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/3 cups cake flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon baking soda

How To Make sour cream coffee cake w/brown sugar streusel

  • Step 1
    MAKE THE STREUSEL mix dry ingredients and then drizzle butter over them and stir well should feel clumpy not sandy,if feels dry add more butter
  • Step 2
    MAKE THE CAKE in a small bowl whisk the sour cream,vanilla,and almond extract.
  • Step 3
    In large bowl, cream the butter, sugar egg yolk, you can use a mixer w/paddel attachment, then Using a whisk add whole egg, salt until the batter is smooth and sugar begins to dissolve,about 30 seconds, add in sour cream and whisk till mixed in
  • Step 4
    sift in flour, baking powder, soda into batter, whisk until the mixture is smooth and free of lumps
  • Step 5
    Heat oven to 350-lightly butter a 8 inch square cake pan and line the bottom with parchment paper and butter the parchement,
  • Step 6
    spread the batter evenly in the pan then sprinkle the streusel over the batter and bake until puffed and golden about 28 to 30 minutes
