Red Velvet Waffles w/ Cream Cheese Sauce

Making waffles one day my daughter wanted to make them red...light bulb...why not make "red velvet" waffles. Her and her friend snarfed them down in no time! I have also thought I could use green for St Patrick's Day and omit the cocoa may ideas...gotta get cooking!

  • 3 c
    pancake mix
  • 2
  • 1/3 c
    melted butter
  • 1 1/2 c
  • 1/3 c
    cocoa powder
  • 1-2 Tbsp
    red food coloring (more or less until you get the color you want)

  • 8 oz
    cream cheese
  • 2 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1 c
    powdered sugar
  • 1/3 c
    milk ( more or less to desired consistency)

How to Make Red Velvet Waffles w/ Cream Cheese Sauce


  1. Heat waffle iron

    Mix pancake mix and cocoa powder in bowl with whisk. Add remaining ingredients and whisk until fairly smooth.
  2. Pour in waffle iron & cook.
  3. While cooking the waffles, in small sauce pan warm "syrup" ingredients stirring often until cream cheese is melted and no lumps remain.
  4. Pour syrup over waffles.
  5. Eat & enjoy...YUM!
