red velvet waffles w/ cream cheese sauce

Making waffles one day my daughter wanted to make them red...light bulb...why not make "red velvet" waffles. Her and her friend snarfed them down in no time! I have also thought I could use green for St Patrick's Day and omit the cocoa powder...so may ideas...gotta get cooking!

Ingredients

  • WAFFLES
  • 3 cups pancake mix
  • 2 - eggs
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1-2 tablespoon red food coloring (more or less until you get the color you want)
  • CREAM CHEESE "SYRUP"
  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup milk ( more or less to desired consistency)

How To Make red velvet waffles w/ cream cheese sauce

  • Step 1
    Heat waffle iron Mix pancake mix and cocoa powder in bowl with whisk. Add remaining ingredients and whisk until fairly smooth.
  • Step 2
    Pour in waffle iron & cook.
  • Step 3
    While cooking the waffles, in small sauce pan warm "syrup" ingredients stirring often until cream cheese is melted and no lumps remain.
  • Step 4
    Pour syrup over waffles.
  • Step 5
    Eat & enjoy...YUM!
