I am always looking for a new healthy breakfast. I created this porridge from an Illinois 4-H recipe.

  • 1 c
    brown rice, cooked
  • 1 c
    skimmed milk
  • 1-2 tsp
    sweetener: sugar, stevia, agave syrup, honey . . .
  • 1-2 Tbsp
    golden raisins
  • 1-2 Tbsp
    almonds, slivered
  • 1/4 tsp
    pumpkin pie spices
  • ·
    pinch cardamom (optional but really good)
  • 1/2 tsp

How to Make Quick Brown Rice Porridge


  1. In a small sauce pan, add rice, milk, pumpkin pie spice, cardamom, raisins, and almonds.
  2. Heat until boiling, turn heat to low, and cook for a couple of minutes until mixture starts to thicken.
  3. Remove from heat and add vanilla.
    Serve porridge while warm.
  4. Note: Double or triple as you wish.
