I am always looking for a new healthy breakfast. I created this porridge from an Illinois 4-H recipe.

Ingredients

Add to Grocery List

1 c
brown rice, cooked
1 c
skimmed milk
1-2 tsp
sweetener: sugar, stevia, agave syrup, honey . . .
1-2 Tbsp
golden raisins
1-2 Tbsp
almonds, slivered
1/4 tsp
pumpkin pie spices
pinch cardamom (optional but really good)
1/2 tsp
vanilla

How to Make Quick Brown Rice Porridge

Step-by-Step

  • 1In a small sauce pan, add rice, milk, pumpkin pie spice, cardamom, raisins, and almonds.
  • 2Heat until boiling, turn heat to low, and cook for a couple of minutes until mixture starts to thicken.
  • 3Remove from heat and add vanilla.
    Serve porridge while warm.
  • 4Note: Double or triple as you wish.
