I am always looking for a new healthy breakfast. I created this porridge from an Illinois 4-H recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown rice, cooked
  • 1 cup skimmed milk
  • 1-2 teaspoon sweetener: sugar, stevia, agave syrup, honey . . .
  • 1-2 tablespoon golden raisins
  • 1-2 tablespoon almonds, slivered
  • 1/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spices
  • - pinch cardamom (optional but really good)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

How To Make quick brown rice porridge

  • Step 1
    In a small sauce pan, add rice, milk, pumpkin pie spice, cardamom, raisins, and almonds.
  • Step 2
    Heat until boiling, turn heat to low, and cook for a couple of minutes until mixture starts to thicken.
  • Step 3
    Remove from heat and add vanilla. Serve porridge while warm.
  • Step 4
    Note: Double or triple as you wish.
