Ingredients

  • 4 - eggs
  • 2/3 cup orange juice
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 - italian bread cut in 1" slices
  • 1/3 cup butter, melted, divided
  • 1/2 cup pecan pieces
  • 2 tablespoons orange peel, grated

How To Make pecan french toast

  • Step 1
    Using a whisk, beat eggs, orange juice, milk, sugar, nutmeg and vanilla.
  • Step 2
    Place bread with edges touching, in a layer, in a large baking dish.
  • Step 3
    Pour milk mixture over bread, cover and refrigerate overnight.
  • Step 4
    Turn once.
  • Step 5
    Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  • Step 6
    Pour melted butter on a jelly roll pan, or large cookie sheet with sides.
  • Step 7
    Arrange soaked slices in a single layer on pan.
  • Step 8
    Sprinkle with orange peel and pecans.
  • Step 9
    Bake 20 minutes.
  • Step 10
    Check slices during last 10 minutes.
