Ingredients

  • 4
    eggs
  • 2/3 c
    orange juice
  • 1/3 c
    milk
  • 1/4 c
    sugar
  • 1/4 tsp
    nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp
    vanilla
  • 1/2
    italian bread cut in 1" slices
  • 1/3 c
    butter, melted, divided
  • 1/2 c
    pecan pieces
  • 2 Tbsp
    orange peel, grated

How to Make Pecan French Toast

Step-by-Step

  1. Using a whisk, beat eggs, orange juice, milk, sugar, nutmeg and vanilla.
  2. Place bread with edges touching, in a layer, in a large baking dish.
  3. Pour milk mixture over bread, cover and refrigerate overnight.
  4. Turn once.
  5. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  6. Pour melted butter on a jelly roll pan, or large cookie sheet with sides.
  7. Arrange soaked slices in a single layer on pan.
  8. Sprinkle with orange peel and pecans.
  9. Bake 20 minutes.
  10. Check slices during last 10 minutes.
