Ingredients
- 3/4 cup flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- zest of 1 orange
- 2 tablespoons butter, at room temperature
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 cup applesauce, unsweetened
- 1/3 cup water
- 2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1/2 cup dried cherries
How To Make oatmeal breakfast cookie

Step 1Combine the flour, baking soda, and orange zest in small bowl.

Step 2Whip the butter and brown sugar until well combined.

Step 3Mix in the eggs and vanilla, then add the applesauce and water.

Step 4Add the flour mixture to the wet mixture.

Step 5Mix in the oats, then the dried cherries.

Step 6Chill the dough for 30 minutes to firm up.

Step 7Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line some baking sheets with parchment paper.

Step 8Use an ice cream scoop to scoop balls of dough onto the baking sheet.

Step 9Bake 15 minutes. Flatten the cookies and bake 3 minutes more.

Step 10Let cool on the baking sheet 5 minutes, then remove to wire rack to cool.
