Ingredients

  • 4 - eggs, beaten
  • 2/3 cup orange juice
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 - loaf italian bread, cut into 1-inch thick slices
  • 1/2 cup macadamia nuts, diced

How To Make macadamia french toast

  • Step 1
    With a wire whisk, beat together eggs, orange juice, milk, sugar, nutmeg and vanilla.
  • Step 2
    Place bread in a single layer in a tight fitting casserole pan.
  • Step 3
    Pour milk mixture over bread.
  • Step 4
    Cover and refrigerate overnight, turning once.
  • Step 5
    Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  • Step 6
    Spray baking sheet or jellyroll pan with vegetable shortening.
  • Step 7
    Arrange soaked bread slices in a single layer on pan.
  • Step 8
    Sprinkle with macadamia nuts.
  • Step 9
    Bake until golden, 20 to 25 minutes.
  • Step 10
    Serve with maple syrup and butter, if desired.
