For this chilly morning, I wanted oatmeal, and I had a very ripe banana to use. And oatmeal is always better with maple syrup, Craisins (or raisins), and pecans!

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups water
  • 1 cup old-fashioned oatmeal
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 large ripe banana
  • 1-2 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon dried cranberries or raisins
  • 1 tablespoon chopped pecans or other nuts

How To Make loaded oatmeal

  • Step 1
    Bring water and salt to a boil, stir in oats. Cook over medium heat for about 5 minutes or until thickened. (See package directions.)
  • Step 2
    Smash banana and maple syrup together and stir into oatmeal. Add cranberries or raisins. Heat another minute, cover, and turn off the heat. Let sit for a minute or two.
  • Step 3
    Sprinkle with pecans and half and half to serve.
