Ingredients

old fashioned oats
1 c
coconut, shredded, sweetened
1 c
pecan pieces
2/3 c
honey
4 Tbsp
butter
1 dash(es)
cinnamon
1/4 c
brown sugar
2 tsp
vanilla
1/2 c
raisins
1/2 c
wheat germ, toasted
1/2 c
chopped apricots, dried
1/2 c
cranberries, dried
1/4 tsp
salt

How to Make Homemade Granola Bars

Step-by-Step

  • 1Preheat oven to 350 and butter well an 8 1/2 x 11 pan with parchment paper on the bottom. (Do not use wax paper)
  • 2Combine oats, coconut and nuts on a cookie sheet and bake at 350 for 12 minutes, stirring 2-3 times. Turn oven to 300, remove from heat, put in bowl and stir in wheat germ.
  • 3In a saucepan, combine honey, butter, cinnamon, brown sugar, vanilla and salt. Boil for 4 minutes.
  • 4Pour sauce over oat mixture and add dried fruit. Stir together well. Press granola well into pan with buttered fingers and press down.
  • 5Bake at 300 for 30 minutes. Let cool for 2 hours before cutting. Loosen edges with knife, turn out onto cutting board. Enjoy!
