This is an interesting combination of French toast and bacon. I love making this dish when I have a house full of people. It is easy to make and always gets a lot of compliments.

Ingredients
- 1/2 pound sliced canadian bacon
- 1/2 cup orange marmalade
- 1/4 cup prepared yellow mustard
- 4 slices pumpernickel bread
- 2 tablespoons butter, room temperature
- 1/2 pound gouda cheese, cut into 8 slices
How To Make hearty eye-opener sandwiches

Step 1Preheat broiler

Step 2Cook Canadian bacon in large frying pan over medium-low heat for 3 minutes on each side until hot. Leave in pan.

Step 3Combine marmalade and mustard and pour over bacon in pan. Simmer 10 minutes, turning bacon often to coat in sauce.

Step 4Place bread slices on ungreased baking sheet. Spread 1/2 tablespoon butter on top of each slice. Top with bacon slices. Spoon 1 teaspoon sauce over each slice of bacon, then top each with 2 slices of cheese.

Step 5Broil sandwiches 3 inches from heat for 3 minutes, or until cheese melts.
