Ingredients
- 2/3 cup flour
- 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon ground flax seed
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups finely chopped, peeled apples
- 2 - eggs
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup chopped pecans
- 1/4 cup applesauce
- TOPPING
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 cup chopped pecans
How To Make heart healthy apple coffee cake

Step 1Grease a 9-inch round baking pan.

Step 2In a small bowl stir the flour, soda, cinnamon, flax seed, and salt together.

Step 3Combine apples and eggs, then add the sugar, nuts and applesauce.

Step 4Add the dry mixture, stir and pour batter into a prepared pan.

Step 5Topping: Stir brown sugar, 2 tablespoons flour and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon together.

Step 6Cut in butter until crumbly; add nuts and sprinkle over batter.

Step 7Bake in a 350 degree oven for 35 to 40 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.

Step 8Cool for 10 minutes. Serves 10.
