Ingredients

  • 5 cups whole oats
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 2 tablespoons ground flax seed
  • 2 tablespoons toasted wheat germ
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1-2 teaspoon cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 cup chopped nuts of your choice (optional)
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup dried fruit of choice (optional)

How To Make granola

  • Step 1
    Combine the first 7 ingredients.
  • Step 2
    Combine the applesauce, syrup, Splenda & vanilla.
  • Step 3
    Add this to the oat mixture, combining well.
  • Step 4
    Spread onto a cookie sheet.
  • Step 5
    Bake in a 350' oven for 40 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes.
  • Step 6
    Cool completely then add the dried fruit.
  • Step 7
    Store in a tightly covered container. This will usually stay fresh for between 7-10 days.
