Ingredients
- 2 3/4 cups flour, divided
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup butter, cold
- 3/4 cup fruitcake mix
- 1/4 cup candied cherries
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 1 cup buttermilk
How To Make fruitcake scones

Step 1Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.

Step 2Spray scone pan with cooking spray.

Step 3In a large mixing bowl combine 2 cups flour, the sugar, baking powder and baking soda.

Step 4Add butter. Use hands to blend until coarse crumbs are formed.

Step 5Add fruitcake mix and cherries, mix until combined.

Step 6Add almond extract to buttermilk. Stir to combine.

Step 7Pour buttermilk into flour mixture. Mix until soft dough is formed.

Step 8Add remaining flour, 1/4 cup at a time, until dough is not sticky.

Step 9Add dough to scone pan.

Step 10Bake 15-18 minutes until lightly brown and toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.

Step 11Cool in pan 15 minutes.
