Ingredients

  • 3 cups boiling water
  • 1 cup corn meal
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt

How To Make fried corn meal mush

  • Step 1
    Add all ingredients to boiling water; stir constantly. Lower heat; cover with lid and cook 5 minutes more, stirring occasionally. Pour into loaf pan and let set overnight in refrigerator. In morning, turn out onto plate, slice and fry in shortening. Serve hot with butter and syrup.
