Ingredients
- 6 slices texas toast or other thick sliced bread preferably stale
- 3 large eggs
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons canola oil
How To Make french toast sticks

Step 1Trim the crusts off the bread and cut into sticks.

Step 2Whisk together the eggs, milk and vanilla. Combine the sugar and cinnamon on a shallow plate.

Step 3Melt 1 tablespoon butter and heat 1 tablespoon oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Dip the sticks in the egg batter letting the excess drip off. Add them to the skillet in single layer with space between them. Flip them after the bottom has browned. Cook until golden brown on both sides. Work in batches adding more butter and oil if needed.

Step 4Remove from the pan and using tongs roll them in the cinnamon sugar.
