french toast breakfast sandwich
The secret ingredient to making sure this french toast is lightly sweet without added syrup, is to use sweetened vanilla coffee creamer to the egg mixture (instead of milk). This sweet, salty, savory breakfast is good as well as comforting.
Blue Ribbon Recipe
If you like sweet and savory, this breakfast sandwich is for you. It's surprisingly delicious. Vanilla creamer adds a little bit of sweetness to the French toast. Then, cooking the remaining egg mixture to put on the sandwich is genius. Bacon and cheese add the touch of savoriness the sandwich needs. Powdered sugar sprinkled on top reminds us of a Monte Cristo and has similar flavors. Not something you'd eat every morning, but a nice treat. This recipe makes 1 sandwich, so just double ingredients as needed.
Ingredients

How To Make french toast breakfast sandwich
-
Step 1Beat eggs with coffee creamer and cinnamon. I find sweetened coffee creamer instead of milk adds the bit of sweetness that french toast needs since it is hard to add sugar to the egg and cook it. If you don't have sweetened coffee creamer just use milk and vanilla but it won't be sweet.

Step 2Dip the bread into the egg mixture.
-
Step 3Cook on med heat (melt butter in the pan before cooking) until done. Remove from pan.
-
Step 4Add butter to the hot pan. Use the leftover egg mixture to make a folded fried egg.
-
Step 5Put cheese and bacon on one piece of french toast.
-
Step 6Place cooked egg on top of the bacon and cheese.
-
Step 7Sprinkle top and bottom with powdered sugar. Enjoy!
