Ingredients
- FOR THE BREAD
- thick slice bread
- 1 part - sugar
- 2 parts - water
- sliced almonds
- FOR PASTRY CREAM
- 7 ounces pkg almond paste, not marzipan
- 2 large eggs
- 1 pinch sea salt
- Few drops almond extract
How To Make french bostock (better than french toast)

Step 1Preheat oven to 425

Step 2Note - Thick slices of bread are traditional. If you have thinner slices, sandwich a little pastry cream between two slices before using the sugar syrup.

Step 3For pastry cream, place all ingredients in a food processor and pulse until smooth.

Step 4Combine the sugar and water in small saucepan and heat just until sugar melts.

Step 5Place bread on baking sheet and brush with the syrup being generous but not soaking wet.

Step 6Top each piece with the almond cream and sprinkle with almonds.

Step 7Bake for 8-12 minutes, until top is golden.

Step 8Serve sprinkled with powdered sugar.

Step 9Note - leftover pastry cream can be frozen
