homemade oatmeal packets

I came upon the idea online somewhere about putting together these pre-maid homemade oatmeal packets. Yummy, inexpensive & healthy. Feel free to add more or less sugar, creamer or fruit to suit your taste. These will make a nice sized bowl of oatmeal. (I got the idea from tammy's recipes online)

Ingredients

  • * - oats ( see below for amounts)
  • * - ground oats groats or finely processed oats to make oat flour (this could be considered optional, but it does make for a creamier & thicker oatmeal)
  • * - salt (see below for amounts)
  • * - sugar, brown sugar or spenda packets ( see below for amounts)
  • * - coffee creamer (see below for amounts) (don't substiture dry milk powder as it gets ransid for some reason when mixed with other ingredients)
  • * - dried or freeze dried fruits (see below)
  • * - spice (see below)

How To Make homemade oatmeal packets

  • Step 1
    You basically add the listed ingredients into a ziplock sandwich bag or folding sandwich bags & tie with twist tie. Label bag with permanent marker so you know what flavor it is. I make lots of these at a time so I make an assembly line with my ingredients & several bowls. I measure my ingredients (assembly line style) into bowls then dump them into baggies & label.
  • Step 2
    Cranberry or Cherry-½ cup oats, 2 tbsp ground oats, ¼ tsp salt, 2 tbsp sugar or 3 Splenda pkts, 2 tbsp creamer, 2 tbsp dried cranberries or cherries
  • Step 3
    Cinnamon raisin-½ cup oats, 2 tbsp ground oats, ¼ tsp salt, 2 tbsp sugar or 3 Splenda pkts, 1 tbsp creamer, ½ tsp cinnamon, 2 tbsp raisins
  • Step 4
    Blueberry--½ cup oats, 2 tbsp ground oats, ¼ tsp salt, 2 tbsp sugar or 3 Splenda pkts, 2 tbsp creamer, 2 tbsp dried blueberries
  • Step 5
    Brown sugar-½ cup oats, 2 tbsp ground oats. ¼ tsp salt, 3 tbsp brown sugar, 1 tbsp creamer
  • Step 6
    Strawberries & Cream-½ cup oats, 2 tbsp ground oats, ¼ tsp salt, 2 tbsp sugar or 3 Splenda pkts, 2 tbsp creamer, 2 tbsp freeze dried strawberries
  • Step 7
    Peaches & Cream-½ cup oats, 2 tbsp ground oats, ¼ tsp salt, 2 tbsp sugar or 3 Splenda pkts, 2 tbsp creamer, 2 tbsp freeze dried peaches
  • Step 8
    Strawberry & Banana--½ cup oats, 2 tbsp ground oats, ¼ tsp salt, 2 tbsp sugar or 3 Splenda pkts, 2 tbsp creamer, 1=2 tbsp freeze dried strawberries & 1-2 tbsp freeze dried bananas
  • Step 9
    Raisins & Spice-½ cup oats, 2 tbsp ground oats, ¼ tsp salt, 2 tbsp sugar or 3 Splenda pkts, 1 tbsp creamer, ½ tsp pumpkin pie spice, 2 tbsp raisins
  • Step 10
    Apple & Cinnamon-½ cup oats, 2 tbsp ground oats, ¼ tsp salt, 2 tbsp sugar or 3 Spenda pkts, 1 tbsp creamer, ½ tsp cinnamon & 2-3 tbsp chopped dried apples
  • Step 11
    Chocolate--½ cup oats, 2 tbsp ground oats, ¼ tsp salt, 3-4 tbsp sugar, 1 tbsp creamer, 1 tsp cocoa powder & 1 tbsp chocolate chips
  • Step 12
    Apricots & Cream--½ cup oats, 2 tbsp ground oats, ¼ tsp salt, 2 tbsp sugar or 3 Splenda pkts, 2 tbsp creamer, 2 tbsp diced, dry apricots
  • Step 13
    Banana & Cream---½ cup oats, 2 tbsp ground oats, ¼ tsp salt, 2 tbsp sugar or 3 Splenda pkts, 2 tbsp creamer, 2 tbsp banana chip crumbs ( simply put banana chips in food processor & pulse to crumbs) or use freeze dried bananas
  • Step 14
    Date & Nut-½ cup oats, 2 tbsp ground oats, ¼ tsp salt, 2 tbsp brown sugar, ¼ tsp cinnamon, 1 tbsp creamer, 3 tbsp chopped dates, 1 tbsp chopped walnuts
  • Step 15
    To make oatmeal, put in saucepan with 1 cup of water & simmer until done.
