eggnog & nutmeg french toast

So easy, so good! Brioche bread is especially wonderful if you can find it or make it!! Great during the holidays when most of the ingredients are in my fridge! Leftover slices can be warmed in the toaster for a few days.

Ingredients

  • 1 large egg , beaten
  • 1 cup eggnog
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tablespoon freshly grated nutmeg
  • 6 slices brioche bread, cut thick
  • powdered sugar
  • organic maple syrup
  • butter

How To Make eggnog & nutmeg french toast

  • Step 1
    In med. Mixing bowl beat 1 large egg until light in color.
  • Step 2
    Add eggnog and vanilla and whisk into a creamy consistency.
  • Step 3
    Grate fresh nutmeg and whisk in until incorporated
  • Step 4
    Over med low heat in nonstick skillet, melt 1 T butter.
  • Step 5
    In shallow pie dish, pour eggnog mix. Dunk 2 slices of brioche bread in and leave a few minutes to soak up mixture. Turn over and soak other side.
  • Step 6
    In warm skillet with butter melted evenly on the bottom, place both slices of soaked bread. Check until sides are crispy brown and flip over. Do the same checking until bread is fluffy (not damp) and both sides have browned.
  • Step 7
    Complete with remaining bread.
  • Step 8
    Slice up and serve with powdered sugar sprinkled on top and add butter and syrup as desired
