I don't care for sausage, but actually love this recipe. You do not have to do it using maple syrup. I have also done it using hot/spicy sausage which my husband really likes (I'm not in to spicy stuff though!)

prep time 15 Min
cook time 20 Min
method Stove Top
yield 4 serving(s)

Ingredients

  • 1 package ground sausage
  • 1 package cream cheese
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 can refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 1 - egg white and a dash of poppy seeds (optional)

How To Make easy maple sausage popovers

  • Step 1
    Brown and drain the sausage.
  • Step 2
Add the maple syrup and cream cheese. Mix until cheese is soft and well integrated with the sausage.
  • Step 3
Open the crescent rolls and spoon the sausage mixture into the center of each roll. Close up / pinch all ends to make a rounded pouch.
  • Step 4
Brush top with egg white and sprinkle with poppy seeds. Bake at 350 for about 15 minutes, or until golden brown.
