Ingredients
- 3/4 cup cherries, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/8 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/4 cup butter, cold and cut into small pieces
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 large egg yolk
How To Make cherry scones

Step 1Place chopped cherries in a bowl and sprinkle 1/2 teaspoon of sugar over them, then stir gently. Set aside.

Step 2Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Line baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 3Mix together flour, baking powder, baking soda and sugar.

Step 4Cut in the butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 5Whisk together milk and egg yolk. Pour into flour mixture and stir until combined.

Step 6Stir in chopped cherries.

Step 7Turn dough onto lightly floured surface. Knead lightly and shape into 5" circle.(about 1" thickness)

Step 8Cut into 4 scones and place on baking sheet.

Step 9Bake 12-15 minutes, until golden.

Step 10Let cool on baking sheet one minute before transferring to wire rack.
