caramel french toast
This is my go-to recipe when guests stay over. I can make it the night before and just pop it in the oven. Everyone loves it and I can spend time visiting instead of standing over a griddle!

Ingredients
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 cup butter
- 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
- 12 slices 1-inch thick french bread
- 6 - large eggs, beaten
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
How To Make caramel french toast

Step 1Combine sugar, butter and corn syrup in a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat until smooth and thickened, stir constantly.

Step 2Coat a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking dish with cooking spray. Pour butter mixture into the dish. Fit bread slices tightly into the dish, trimming if necessary.

Step 3In a medium bowl combine eggs, milk, vanilla and salt whisking together well. Pour egg mixture over bread.

Step 4Cover and refrigerate for eight hours.

Step 5Bake uncovered at 350 degrees F. for 45 minutes or until lightly browned.

Step 6Slice into sections and serve upside down. Garnish with whipped cream or whipped butter.
