my mother use to bake this all the time in the fall and she baked it in a cast iron skillet-it gives it a crust!!!

Ingredients
- 2 cups flour, sifted
- 2 cups brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1/2 cup margarine
- 1/3 cup flour, sifted
- 1 - egg
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 3/4 cup raisins
- 1/2 cup nuts, chopped
How To Make buttermilk coffee cake

Step 1mix flour and brown sugar; cut in margarine til mixture looks like corse meal. set aside 1/2 of mixture to be used for topping. to the remaining mixture add flour and mix well.

Step 2add egg, buttermilk, soda, cinnamon, and raisins. mix only til dry ingreds. are well mois.

Step 3pour into well greased 9" cast iron skillet. mix topping with nuts, sprinkle over top batter. bake 325 for 55 min.
