  • 1 c
    frozen blueberries, thawed
  • 1 c
    water, warm
  • 1/2 c
    white sugar
  • 1/2 c
    brown sugar
  • 1 dash(es)
  • 1 dash(es)
  • 1 tsp
    lemon zest, grated
  • 1 Tbsp
  • 1 Tbsp
    cold water
  • 1 tsp
    lemon juice

How to Make Blueberry Compote


  1. Make slurry by wisking cornstarch in cold water until completely dissolved. Set aside.
  2. Continuously wisk all the ingredients together -- except lemon juice -- in a small sauce pan over low heat until sugar is dissolved.
  3. Increase heat to medium and bring to a gentle boil, stirring often, until syrup is thickened, about 15 minutes.
  4. Right before mixture boils, wisk in the slurry and continue wisking until well combined and syrup begins to thicken.
  5. Once thickened, wisk in lemon juice. Serve immediately or cool.
