Ingredients

  • 1 cup frozen blueberries, thawed
  • 1 cup water, warm
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 dash vanilla
  • 1 dash nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest, grated
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon cold water
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

How To Make blueberry compote

  • Step 1
Make slurry by wisking cornstarch in cold water until completely dissolved. Set aside.
  • Step 2
Continuously wisk all the ingredients together -- except lemon juice -- in a small sauce pan over low heat until sugar is dissolved.
  • Step 3
Increase heat to medium and bring to a gentle boil, stirring often, until syrup is thickened, about 15 minutes.
  • Step 4
Right before mixture boils, wisk in the slurry and continue wisking until well combined and syrup begins to thicken.
  • Step 5
Once thickened, wisk in lemon juice. Serve immediately or cool.
