Ingredients
- 1 cup frozen blueberries, thawed
- 1 cup water, warm
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 dash vanilla
- 1 dash nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest, grated
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon cold water
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
How To Make blueberry compote
-
Step 1Make slurry by wisking cornstarch in cold water until completely dissolved. Set aside.
-
Step 2Continuously wisk all the ingredients together -- except lemon juice -- in a small sauce pan over low heat until sugar is dissolved.
-
Step 3Increase heat to medium and bring to a gentle boil, stirring often, until syrup is thickened, about 15 minutes.
-
Step 4Right before mixture boils, wisk in the slurry and continue wisking until well combined and syrup begins to thicken.
-
Step 5Once thickened, wisk in lemon juice. Serve immediately or cool.
