Ingredients

1 1/2 c
flour
2 Tbsp
sugar
2 tsp
baking powder
1/2 tsp
baking soda
1/4 tsp
salt
3
egg yolks, beaten (reserve whites)
3/4 c
sour cream
3/4 c
buttermilk
1/4 c
shortening, melted and cooled
1/4 c
butter or margarine, melted and cooled

egg whites, stiffly beaten

How to Make Belgian Waffles

Step-by-Step

  • 1Whisk dry ingredients together. Combine egg yolks, sour cream and buttermilk, and add to dry ingredients alternately with cooled shortening and butter.
  • 2Stir gently until no longer lumpy. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Cook in waffle iron.
