My go-to comfort meal. I wanted something that felt like a hug, so I simmered oats with sweet apples and aromatic spices. It’s warm, satisfying, and hits that 'apple pie' craving perfectly.

Ingredients

  • OATS
  • 1 packet Quaker Oats sweet cinnamon
  • 1 slice bread, torn into pieces
  • milk or double cream/heavy cream
  • APPLES
  • 1/2 tart apple; peeled, cored, sliced
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons warm spice mix
  • 1/2 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 tablespoon cornflour or corn starch

How To Make apple pie oats

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350F/180C/160C fan. Line a small baking tray or dish with parchment paper.
  • Step 2
    To a small bowl, add the apple slices, melted butter, cornflour, and warm spices. Stir to coat.
  • Step 3
    Transfer apples to baking sheet. Bake apple slices for 12 minutes or until fork tender
  • Step 4
    When the apples are finished, to a microwave safe bowl, pour the oatmeal packet into a microwave-safe bowl and add the milk. Microwave for 1 minute on high, take out, and add apple slices to the bowl. Microwave for 1 more minute on high.
  • Step 5
    Stir in the torn bread pieces until combined. Top with cinnamon sugar if desired. Serve hot.
