sausage biscuits

I started making these when my twin boys were very young,now they're 18 and still requesting them. I serve the sausage biscuits with eggs,so I don't add eggs in the sandwiches but you can add scrambled eggs.Cheese is optional,the boys didn't want cheese.

Ingredients

  • BISCUITS
  • - 2 c flour
  • - 1/2 t.salt
  • - 4 t. baking powder
  • - 1 t. sugar
  • - 1/2 c shortening ( i use 1/4 c margarine and butter)
  • - 2/3 c milk
  • SAUSAGE
  • - 1 lb ground pork
  • - 1/2 t. dried sage
  • - 1/4 t. crush red pepper flakes
  • - 1/4 t. salt
  • - 1/4 t. black pepper
  • - jelly,flavor of your choice

How To Make sausage biscuits

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 425 deg. Mix dry ingredients together well. Add shortening,mix well until resembles coarse meal. Slowly add milk while mixing until batter combines well. Knead a few times on lightly floured surface.Pat out to 1/2 inch cut into 2 inch rounds,place on greased baking sheet. Bake 15-20 minutes. While biscuits are baking,combine pork,spices, mix well,shape into patties slightly larger than biscuits,saute patties over medium heat about 5 minutes per side ,drain.Slice biscuits in half,spread one half with jelly and sandwich sausage patties inside. Serve hot.
