Christy Jordan recently posted this reminder of how to make perfect bacon without the splatter or the constant watching, so all credit goes to my favorite food blogger who "feeds" us all southern-style at southernplate.com. I just wanted to be able to add this great idea to my family cookbook! =^..^=

Ingredients

  • some - aluminum foil or parchment paper
  • some - bacon (thick cut works best, but just shorten the time for regular bacon)

How To Make baked bacon a la christy

  • Step 1
Cover a baking sheet (with sides) with foil or parchment paper. Lay out your bacon on the foil.
  • Step 2
Place bacon in a COLD oven and turn the oven to 375 degrees F.
  • Step 3
The first time you make it, watch carefully. The timing depends on how thick your bacon is and how crispy (or not) you like it. Thick bacon takes about 15-20 minutes. On my oven it takes 17 minutes to have it the way MY FAMILY likes it. Adjust for YOUR family Once you know your "time," go read the Sunday paper or watch cartoons with the kids. Step 4
Remove from oven & place on paper towels to drain. If you're a true southern cook, drain the bacon grease into a cast iron skillet for your eggs. Otherwise, allow it to cool and fold it up in the foil for disposal.
  • Step 5
Serve it with your favorite breakfast foods. Wasn't this easy? =^..^=
  • Step 6
    Another yummy serving suggestion.
