-
Step 1Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Slice each puff pastry sheet into 6 pieces.
-
Step 2Place 6 pieces on the prepared baking sheet and set the remaining 6 to the side. (They will be the top to the strudel.)
-
Step 3To make the filling, add the apples to a large bowl with the brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix to combine.
-
Step 4Add the butter to a large pan and melt over medium-high heat.
-
Step 5Add the apple mixture and saute for 6 minutes until tender.
-
Step 6Spoon 1-2 tablespoons worth of the apple filling into the center of each puff pastry piece on the baking sheet.
-
Step 7Whisk the egg and milk together in a small bowl to create and egg wash.
-
Step 8Use a silicone brush to brush the edges around the filling of each puff pastry piece with the egg wash.
-
Step 9Place the remaining 6 pieces of puff pastry over the tops of each filling. Use your fingers to press around the border, then use a fork to indent and seal.
-
Step 10Brush the top of each strudel with the egg wash. Bake 18-20 minutes.
-
Step 11While the strudels cool a bit, make the glaze. Combine the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract, whisking to combine.
-
Step 12Drizzle the glaze over each cooled strudel and enjoy!
