    loaf french bread
  • 8
  • 3 c
  • 3/4 c
    sugar, divided
  • 1 Tbsp
  • 5
    apples, peeled, cored and sliced thin
  • 2 tsp
  • 2 Tbsp

How to Make Baked Apple French Toast


  1. Preheat oven to 400°.
  2. Spray 9x13-inch pan lightly with oil.
  3. Slice bread into 1 1/2-inch slices. Place bread lightly together in one pan (one layer). Beat eggs lightly in bowl. Add milk, 1/4 cup sugar, and vanilla; mix with whisk. Pour 1/2 liquid over bread.
  4. Place apple slices on top of bread. Pour remaining egg mixture over apples.
  5. Mix 1/2 cup sugar with cinnamon. Sprinkle evenly over apples. Dot with butter. Bake for 35 minutes. Cool 5-10 minutes before serving. Serve with maple syrup.
  6. Variation:
    Prepare, cover and refrigerate overnight. Bake next morning for 50 minutes.
