Ingredients

  • 1 large loaf french bread
  • 8 - eggs
  • 3 cups milk
  • 3/4 cup sugar, divided
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 5 - apples, peeled, cored and sliced thin
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons butter

How To Make baked apple french toast

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 400°.
  • Step 2
    Spray 9x13-inch pan lightly with oil.
  • Step 3
    Slice bread into 1 1/2-inch slices. Place bread lightly together in one pan (one layer). Beat eggs lightly in bowl. Add milk, 1/4 cup sugar, and vanilla; mix with whisk. Pour 1/2 liquid over bread.
  • Step 4
    Place apple slices on top of bread. Pour remaining egg mixture over apples.
  • Step 5
    Mix 1/2 cup sugar with cinnamon. Sprinkle evenly over apples. Dot with butter. Bake for 35 minutes. Cool 5-10 minutes before serving. Serve with maple syrup.
  • Step 6
    Variation: Prepare, cover and refrigerate overnight. Bake next morning for 50 minutes.
