I received this recipe from my Father inlaw who brought it back from Germany.Everybody I have cooked this for has loved it.

  • 9 large
  • 1 1/2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 c
    milk, whole or 2 %
  • 3/4 tsp
  • 8 Tbsp
    butter, unsalted

How to Make Hills and Dales / baked german pancakes


  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees
  2. Melt butter in a 9"x 13" baking pan.
  3. While butter is melting, whip eggs until thick.
  4. Add milk flour and salt to eggs.
  5. When butter is melted pour batter into pan, and bake for 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Serve with your choice of fruit preserves, maple syrup, or powdered sugar.
