This is one of the recipes that I serve my houseguests during the upcoming holidays… It gets requested quite a bit. It’s simple to make, and you can even prebake the hash brown crusts the day before. Plus you can personalize it using different meats, and even add a few veggies. So, you ready… Let’s get into the kitchen.

Ingredients For breakfast essentials: hash brown pizza

  • PLAN/PURCHASE
  • THE HASH BROWN CRUST
  • 8 oz
    shredded russet potatoes, or an equivalent of frozen hash browns
  • 1 lg
    egg
  • salt, kosher variety, to taste
  • black pepper, freshly ground, to taste
  • THE TOPPINGS
  • 2 lg
    eggs
  • 4 oz
    breakfast sausage
  • 3 oz
    cheddar cheese, freshly shredded
  • 6 sm
    cherry tomatoes, sliced
  • salt, kosher variety, to taste
  • black pepper, freshly ground, to taste

How To Make breakfast essentials: hash brown pizza

    PREP/PREPARE

    THE HASH BROWN CRUST

    Gather your ingredients.
  • 4
    Place a rack in the upper position, and preheat the oven to 400f (205c).
  • 5
    In a small bowl, whisk the egg, and add a bit of salt and pepper, to taste.

    Add to the hash browns, and toss to combine.

    Shape the hash browns into a disk on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

    Place into the oven and bake until golden brown, about 20 minutes.

    Remove from the oven, and reserve.

    THE TOPPINGS

    Gather your ingredients.

    Add the breakfast sausage to a skillet over medium heat.

    Cook, breaking up with a wooden spoon, until no longer pink.

    Add the eggs into the skillet, and lightly scramble with the sausage

    Add the sausage/egg mixture to the hash brown crust.

    Top with the cheese.

    Add the sliced cherry tomatoes to the top.

    Place in the preheated oven for an additional 5 to 7 minutes, or until the cheese has melted.

    Chef's Tip: If you want the crust to be a bit more crispy, place it on a raised wire rack.

    Cut into wedges, and serve while still nice and warm.
