Quiche is considered a French dish, however egg custards in pastry were known in English cuisine at least as early as the 14th century!

Ingredients

  • 1 - pie pastry
  • 8 slices bacon
  • 1 small onion, grated
  • 4 ounces fresh mushrooms
  • 4 - eggs, beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar
  • dash pepper
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • dash red pepper

How To Make bacon-mushroom quiche

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 375
  • Step 2
    Cook and crumble bacon.
  • Step 3
    Saute onion and mushrooms in a small amount of bacon drippings until soft. (Onions aren't pictured because I was making it for someone who doesn't eat them)
  • Step 4
    Toss cheese with flour.
  • Step 5
    Slightly beat eggs. Add Milk, salt, pepper and red pepper to eggs. Fold in bacon and onion into egg mixture, then cheese and mushrooms.
  • Step 6
    Pour into unbaked pie shell. Place pie tin on a cookie sheet and bake at 375 for 35-40 minutes.
  • Step 7
    Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
