This recipe came from a 1961 cookbook belonging to my mother. I made this the other morning and when it was gone, we ate the crumbs off the plate.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 - eggs
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • TOPPING
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup chopped nuts

How To Make sour cream coffee cake

  • Step 1
    Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and beat until fluffy.
  • Step 2
    Sift together flour, soda, and salt.
  • Step 3
    Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with sour cream and vanilla. Mix well.
  • Step 4
    Pour half of the batter into pan then sprinkle with half of the topping. Add remaining batter and cover top with the rest of the topping.
  • Step 5
    Bake at 325 for 40 minutes.
