Ingredients
- 1 package french bread loaf
- 6 large eggs
- 1/3 cup vegetable oil
- 3 tablespoons grand marnier or other orange liquer
- 2 tablespoons half and half
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon zest, grated
- 1 cup powdered sugar
How To Make pain perdu

Step 1In a heavy 12 inch skillet over medium heat, heat oil. In a medium bowl, combine eggs, liqueur, milk, sugar and lemon zest. Whisk until eggs are frothy and sugar is dissolved.

Step 2When oil is hot, dip bread slices into batter, turning to coat well. Place coated bread in hot oil in batches. Keep warm while frying remaining slices.

Step 3Fry until golden brown on both sides, turning once, 5 to 6 minutes. Drain on paper towels; lightly sprinkle with powdered sugar.
